Deguzman1Leonardo DeGuzman, age 96, passed away on March 20, 2023, at his Fort Washington, Maryland residence. Leonardo is a veteran of the Vietnam war, where he distinctly served in various flag officers’ cabin mess aboard deployed ships overseas and at flag quarters ashore, mostly in Washington,DC. He grew up in Zambales, Philippines and joined the U.S. Navy in August 1945 when hewas 18 years old. He was ultimately promoted to Chief Petty Officer attributable to his sustained commendable work ethics and exorbitant dedication to duty. Subsequent to his retirement after serving over 26 years in the U.S. Navy, he worked at the Cameron Station, Alexandria, Virginia and at the Chief Petty Officers Club, Washington Navy Yard. He took pride in all he did that always left customers and co-workers satisfied. He then fully retired from work, travel around with friends, and passionately engaged with the mahjong game. Leonardo is survived by his loving wife, Teresita, and his five children: Margarita, Mario, Jessie, Dina, Yuriko (deceased) and Liza. He also left behind 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
